Now in Russia there is a considerable increase of a role of physical culture and sport as major elements in ensuring health and social wellbeing of the population. Authors come to a conclusion that in the current situation the management of higher education institutions needs to pay special attention in creation of the comfortable environment for physical education classes and sport in educational institution. In article various aspects affecting quality of training and educational process of students including physical and psychological wellbeing and also social and cultural aspects are analyzed. Authors suggest to change educational approach, focusing on formation at students positive and respect for own body and achievement of high sports results in the course of training in higher education institution. Besides, it is recommended to consider interests and hobbies of students when planning classes. As a result of this approach, the entire system of physical training of students will be perceived as an important aspect of their personal development. The authors conducted a study on the significance of such an environment by a survey among students who are engaged in physical education and are members of the sports sections of Samara State Economic University. At the end of the study, the practical importance of creating a favorable sports environment in educational institutions is highlighted both for the universities themselves and for teachers, students and heads of sports sections.
