Височно-нижнечелюстные дисфункции могут затрагивать как структуры сустава, так и прилежащие к нему жевательные мышцы. Среди симптомов, выявляемых при объективном обследовании, превалируют боль, крепитация, смещение дисков, ограничения или асимметрия движений нижней челюсти. Немецкое общество челюстно-лицевых хирургов (DGMKG) рекомендует занятия физическими нагрузками для компенсации возникших проблем. В связи с этим возникает вопрос, в какой степени у спортсменов активных видов спорта развиваются функциональные нарушения височно-нижнечелюстного сустава и какое влияние оказывает тренировочный процесс на эти изменения.

Temporomandibular dysfunction can affect both the joint structures and the adjacent masticatory muscles. Pain, crepitation, disc displacement, limitations or asymmetry of mandibular movements are prevalent among the symptoms detected on objective examination. The German Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (DGMKG) recommends physical exercise to compensate for these problems. This raises the question to what extent active sports athletes develop functional disorders of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and what influence the training process has on these changes.
