The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal dimensions of the mental model field for selecting a search option for radio transmitters in sports radio direction finding - sprinting, by comparing classical and modeling approaches to solving tactical tasks. Research methods and organization. Computer modeling was utilized using Monte Carlo methods. In the first phase of modeling, object placement was performed according to a 'precise' representation; in the second phase, the optimal search order was calculated for the generated distance; in the third phase, the modeling of the athlete's anticipated actions was carried out; in the fourth phase, the optimal search option for radio transmitters was calculated; and in the fifth phase, the length of the option was calculated. Research results and conclusions. A comparative study of the potential outcomes of tactical actions regarding the search for radio transmitters was conducted using a computer model for mental models of varying dimensions. It was established that the most optimal is the mental model with a dimension of 3x3, which enables the athlete to successfully complete the competitive distance in more than 76% of cases.
