The purpose of the study is to conduct an analysis of the journal's scientific publications over the period from 1944 to 2025, and to identify the main scientific directions presented in various issues, as well as the contribution of Russian scientists to the development of topical issues of physical culture and sports. Research methods and organization. Methods of research such as theoretical analysis and synthesis of documentary materials, comparison, and specification were used. A bibliographic search was employed to identify directions and thematic priorities, which made it possible to collect and systematize information on publications related to physical culture and sports in the journal "Scientific Notes of the P.F. Lesgaft University". Research results and conclusions. An analysis of the content of the early issues of the journal showed that the topics covered remain relevant today: the functional state of athletes' bodies, the mass movement for physical culture, particularly the physical education of youth, medical supervision in sports, including injury prevention and treatment of occupational diseases among athletes, and issues of higher physical education.
