The article provides an analysis of the results of judokas' performances in adolescence depending on the method of their training process in initial training groups. The results of the performances of the best judo athletes of the Tver region, as well as statistics of successful performances of athletes at championships and national championships before and after significant changes in the rules of judo, are analyzed. The relationship between the method of the training process of judokas and the performance of athletes has been revealed. One of these methods, which deserves special attention, is the introduction of means and methods of the domestic sport “universal fight” into the training process of young judokas. Universal fight combines a comprehensive training system aimed at comprehensive physical development and combining elements of various types of martial arts. This system of training wrestlers acts as a means of physical and technical training, allowing to increase the performance of youth judokas in the Tver region.
