Increasing the level of physical fitness of employees of the penitentiary system has always been an urgent task. To solve this problem, many approaches are proposed, the determining one of which is the availability of the material and technical base. Almost all FPS institutions have gyms where you can play sports games, and in particular basketball. Basketball exercises not only allow you to develop physical qualities, but also have a positive effect on psychophysical functions. The high level of development of psychophysical functions allows us to speak about the formed psychophysical readiness for service. The article discusses theoretical data on the influence of basketball training on the development of physical qualities, and also conducts an experimental study of the level of development of psychophysical qualities of cadets involved and not involved in basketball.
