Professional development is one of the most important stages in the development of a per-son’s personality, his socialization and design of the future. To facilitate professional development, professiograms are used, which make it possible to highlight the key qualities and, according to them, orient professional education. There is no generally accepted professiogram for a penal system employee, and the author tried to develop one. The professiogram contains: the content of work, qualification requirements, professionally important qualities, as well as qualities that impede effective professional activity and medical contraindications. An analysis of the possible influence of the means of forming a professional sports culture of an individual on the professionally important qualities of a penal system employee, defined in the professiogram, was carried out.
