Sectoral and interdisciplinary research in the field of physical culture and sports based on the traditional values of the Olympic movement continues to develop in Russian and foreign pedagogical science. At the same time, the declared values of the Olympic movement within the framework of the Olympic Games of the XXI century, in practice, turn out to be demonstrative and impossible. The historical events of 2015-2022 state a number of unprecedented facts of the introduction of restrictive measures (sanctions) preventing Russian athletes from participating in international sports competitions. In turn, "Russia has been and remains committed to traditional Olympic values," and opposes "the politicization of sport, attempts to use it as an instrument of pressure, unfair competition and discrimination." The IOC's confrontation with Russia is only one of a number of factors reflecting the interstate confrontation. Modern research notes, that cognitive wars in the sphere of cultural, informational and psychological confrontation involve the destruction and/or distortion of the worldview, moral and value attitudes of citizens. An example of such a confrontation is the official statement by the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, that athletes of non-traditional sexual orientation (LGBT) must necessarily participate in the Olympic Games. Similar cross-country value differences are manifested in other spheres of life and scientific research. Currently, the commitment of Russian athletes to the values of Olympism, traditional spiritual and moral values will contribute not only to demonstrating the high status of the state and its superiority over other countries, but also an effective mechanism to counter the cognitive impact on Russia from unfriendly sides.
