The article reveals the fundamental differences between the process of hydro-rehabilitation and other forms of motor activity in an aquatic environment. Comparative characteristics of the concepts are presented: hydro-rehabilitation; swimming; therapeutic swimming; recreational swimming; restorative swimming; adaptive swimming; rehabilitation swimming; hydrotherapy. As a result of many years of positive pedagogical research the content of the hydro-rehabilitation process is scientifically substantiated, which does not include medical and rehabilitation tasks for the replacement, restoration or correction of temporarily lost functions of organs and systems of the student's body. However, it should be noted that such classes in an aquatic environment have a healing effect on the body of those involved, which is explained by the effect on the student's body of the unique physical properties of water, certain forces acting on the stationary body of a swimmer, as well as the magnetohydrodynamic mechanism of the healing effect of the aquatic environment on humans.
