The article deals with the problems of training military personnel for the aerospace forces. The authors argue that traditional methods of physical education do not fully correspond to the modern level of training of military aviation specialists, which negatively affects the performance of combat missions. One of the priority directions for improving the effectiveness of the educational process of a military aviation university is the personal and professional self-development of cadets in the process of physical education. The theoretical and applied foundations of this approach are scientifically substantiated.
