Abstract (English):
The article presents a study on the analysis of various approaches to the classification of sports in order to effectively ensure sports selection and orientation. To carry out sports selection, it is necessary to carry out a lot of work on systematization of selection criteria, including compiling a list of certain abilities that form the necessary makings, taking into account the generally accepted classification of sports. According to the authors, when conducting sports selection and orientation, it is advisable to focus on the Olympic classification of sports.
