Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article justifies an innovation in the methodology for assessing combat techniques skills among students of the Institute-Faculty of Professional Training, Retraining, and Qualification Enhancement of the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. This innovation is aimed not at controlling the technique of individual moves, but at identifying the ability to apply the acquired skills in the most common operational and service situations. The conducted pedagogical experiment revealed that the traditional assessment method only slightly assesses the preparedness level of students in the topic of "Combat techniques in wrestling," whereas the experimental method allows for a better judgment of a graduate's readiness to solve upcoming operational and service tasks using practical physical training techniques.
