The article presents a study on the use of running applications for mobile devices in the 2023-2024 academic year by students of the 1st and 3rd courses of the Moscow Aviation Institute, engaged in general physical training departments and in sports sections in the context of the ongoing change in the Russian market of running applications for mobile devices. It was revealed that 97.36% of the surveyed students use running applications, which indicates their high self-educational competencies in the field of physical education. The long-term dynamics of the mobile application market leads to a constant need to search for and master innovative products, thus activating the skills of independence in the educational and training activities of students.
