Today, in sailing and especially in the Olympic yacht classes, there is a constant search for new materials in order to modernize ships, lighten inventory and, as a result, increase speed. In this regard, in 2019, a new class of sailing board "IQ FOIL" appeared, which was included for the first time in the program of the 2024 Summer Olympics. Therefore, modern techniques, methodological developments and practical recommendations for the preparation of athletes in this class are not yet enough. The article presents the scale of expert assessments of the "overstay" turn developed by the authors, as well as the methodology for teaching the "overstay" turn in the class of yachts "IQ FOIL" in sailing and describes the experience of its implementation in the educational and training process.
