Showdown matches under tennis rules as a training methodology
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The article addresses the problem of the lack of methodological support for the training process in the discipline of "table tennis" in visually impaired sports (showdown). Due to the growing popularity of this sport and the limited amount of competitive practice, the relevance of searching for new forms of athlete preparation for competitions at various levels – from regional to all-Russian – is substantiated. The purpose of the study is the development and theoretical justification of a methodology for conducting training matches in showdowns, adapted to the structure of tennis rules. Research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature, modeling, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment. Research results and conclusions. The authorial methodology "Big Table" is presented, integrating the structure of tennis (sets, games, serving system) with the official IBSA rules for table tennis in visually impaired sports into the game concept of showdown. Experimental studies have shown that the application of this methodology allows a multiple increase in the time parameters of a set and the number of serves performed, which contributes to the development of special game endurance, prolonged concentration, and serial practice of technical and tactical actions in defense and attack. The pilot study identified the need for the comprehensive use of the new methodology alongside traditional game formats to preserve the specificity of the discipline. The proposed methodology, having no analogs in domestic practice, fills the gap in the training process of showdown athletes and can be recommended for preparation for high-level tournaments.
