Reliability of executing the "boomerang" element using a ribbon with backward-upward leg swing in rhythmic gymnastics
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to identify the key kinematic factors affecting the reliability of executing the "boomerang" element using a ribbon with backward-upward leg swing in rhythmic gymnastics. Research methods and organization. The study involved gymnasts holding the rank of Candidate for Master of Sport. A total of 200 attempts at performing the element were analyzed. The study employed the method of video recording (120 frames per second) and non-contact analysis of movement video sequences using the Kinovea program, the expert method for reliability assessment, pedagogical observation, as well as methods of mathematical and statistical data processing (correlation analysis in SPSS Statistics 26). The study was conducted during the period of January–February 2026. Research results and conclusions. Statistically significant correlations have been established between the reliability of the element and three kinematic parameters of the initial phase of the throw: the initial flight speed of the ribbon, its maximum height, and the distance of its flight. Corrective exercises have been selected that take into account the identified correlations and are aimed at optimizing the technique of the "boomerang" element using a ribbon with backward-upward leg swing. To increase the reliability of "boomerang" element using a ribbon in the training process, it is necessary to deliberately develop the skill of throwing with the specified kinematic characteristics. Monitoring the initial speed, height, and flight trajectory of the ribbon is crucial for minimizing technical errors.
