The aim of the study was to evaluate the motor activity carried out by students of Astrakhan State Medical University in their free time in 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years, and the direction of changes in this area. Material and methods. 719 students of the faculty of "Medicine", "Pediatrics", "Dentistry", "Preventive Medicine" (51% of girls, 49% of boys) were examined. The study was based on the author's questionnaire containing questions from the field of motor activity, as well as its forms. Results: The average values of body mass index, body weight and height were higher among students starting their 1st year studies in the 2021/2022 academic year. The body mass index in the 2021/2022 academic year for both female and male students was lower than in the 2022/2023 academic year. Regardless of the year and gender, the majority of respondents were characterized by declared motor activity: 62.36% of the entire sample in 2021 and 54.18% in 2023; this difference was statistically significant. In our own study, there was a tendency to decrease the stated motor activity of students. A percentage decrease in students with high motor activity and an increase in the percentage of low motor activity and moderate motor activity - both in girls and boys. Conclusions: The results of the study revealed that the 1st year students of the 2022/2023 academic years were distinguished by a low level of motor activity, while they had an increased BMI level
