The article deals with the issue of introducing digital technologies into the educational process of educational institutions of secondary education. After a period of widespread online learning associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, it became possible to assess the readiness of the education system to use distance learning and identify the main weaknesses of the educational process, including in the field of physical culture and sports. The data of a survey of teachers and students of general education schools in Kazan regarding the effectiveness of use and the difficulties associated with the use of digital tools during online learning are presented. The main problems of online learning are identified. There is a significant decrease in the motor activity of students and the negative impact of prolonged computer sessions on their health, as indicated by the majority of teachers and about half of schoolchildren
