Abstract:
Analyzing the statistics of the performance of domestic athletes at the Olympic Olympic Games and the World Cup in the period from 1952 to 2021, the author tries to determine the main trends in the development of domestic men's athletics and the changes that have occurred after the collapse of the USSR. If in the Soviet period 10 events out of 24 were competitive in the international arena, and throwing was the most medal-winning for men, then in the Russian period remained only 3 competitive, and 63.4% of the prizes were won by representatives of vertical jumps and walking. The main percentage of medals won by domestic athletes traditionally falls on technical events and walking, and successes in almost all running events of the program are isolated
