Introduction. The sport of higher achievements has a significant impact on the gender identification of girls. It is not uncommon for female athletes to demonstrate masculine traits of character, appearance and social behavior outside the sports arena, which negatively affects their public image and, as a result, life outside of sports. In this regard, tracking gender deformations of the public image and their timely correction become an important task of sports science and practice. The methodology and organization of the study. The study sample consisted of 17 highly qualified divers aged 15-18. At the first stage, an expert assessment of the femininity of the public image of athletes was carried out according to the methodology of D.P. Stepanova and O.N. Stepanova. At the second stage, the results of the expert evaluation were processed by the method of averages, ranked and analyzed. The third stage was devoted to the development of recommendations for correcting the gender component of the public image of the surveyed. Research results and discussion. The experts noted the absence of signs of excessive masculinization in the manifestation of the habitar, kinetic and communicative components of the image. In some divers, noticeable "gaps" were found in the speech (insufficiently friendly tone of speech, harsh manner of communication, the presence of parasitic words, jargon, profanity) and kinetic (posture disorders, slouching) components of the image. A number of athletes were criticized about the care of nails and hair, the chosen style of clothing, shoes and accessories. Conclusions. A system of recommendations for correcting the gender component of the public image of highly qualified divers has been developed, which provides for: work with a psychologist; organization of master classes, trainings and competitions to create a feminine image; increasing the number of hours of choreography classes, including exercises from the arsenal of classical ballet, artistic and aesthetic gymnastics aimed at forming the correct posture in the training process, feminine poses, movements, gait; attending open lectures on style, fashion and image; organization of classes on speech practice and public speaking; conducting trainings on self-control of behavior in various (from regular to stressful) situations of sports activity; training girls to maintain a personal page and competent self-presentation in social Internet networks
