The article presents the results of physical fitness of students of a higher educational institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. In the course of testing, it was found that in most tests, cadets have an average and low level of development of physical qualities. Most of them have a high level of endurance in the 5000 meters and a low level in the middle distance, which requires a high pace of running. At the same time, an approximately equal number of cadets demonstrated their capabilities in overcoming the sprint distance. A high level of manifestation of strength abilities was established in the flexion-extension test in the lying position. we calculated a confidence interval with a given probability, which allowed us to rank cadets according to the level of preparedness for all tests. To assess the level of differences in the development of physical abilities of university students, appropriate criteria for assessing the quality of preparedness were developed according to the 3 sigma rule.
