The main purpose of the study was to determine (identify) priority (basic) knowledge, skills and practical skills for specialists (participants of complex scientific groups) implementing a number of scientific and methodological support activities for athletes of higher sportsmanship, sports Russian teams. The analysis of educational programs for training personnel (master's programs and additional professional education) in the field of scientific, methodological and biomedical support made it possible to determine the list of educational organizations with areas of training in this area, to identify a list of disciplines, to rank them in order of importance for implementing a number of scientific and methodological support activities, create a base of priority professional competencies to create a fundamentally new program of additional professional education (advanced training), taking into account the specifics of a particular sport (sports discipline) and the modern development of innovative technologies in terms of activities carried out at all stages of a comprehensive examination of highly qualified athletes. In the course of the analysis, it was possible to determine the main directions of the academic disciplines of the master's programs and to systematize the directions of the programs of additional professional education. The main trends towards the improvement of the existing models of scientific and methodological support for the sports teams of Russia in terms of training professional personnel, specialists included or planned to be included in the composition of complex scientific groups of certain sports (sports disciplines) at the stage of higher sportsmanship are determined.
