The article is devoted to the problem of the need-motivational characteristics of adolescents prone to eating disorders. The study involved 80 schoolchildren from various schools in the Republic of Crimea, including 40 girls and 40 boys, with an average age of 15.9 years. Adolescents prone and not prone to eating disorders were identified. A comparative analysis of the need-motivational manifestations of adolescents prone to eating disorders and adolescents not prone to eating disorders was carried out. The most important needs of adolescents of both groups at the moment, which are not fully satisfied, have been identified. The predominant type of motivation in both groups of adolescents was determined - the motivation to achieve success and the motivation to avoid failures. Significant differences were found in the needs and types of motivation in adolescents prone to eating disorders and in adolescents not prone to eating disorders. The relationship between the needs and motives of adolescents of both groups was determined.
