The purpose of the study: to identify the correct placement of athletes during an attack. The research was conducted in 2021-1922 on the basis of VK "Nova". Recently, attacking actions have prevailed over defensive ones, as a result, the correct location of the players affects the positive reception of the opponent's ball. As a result, the effectiveness of defensive actions increases, and the defender takes more attacking blows. If the athlete is incorrectly positioned, the ball reception turns out to be losing. The proposed options for the location of defenders when repelling attacks in typical game situations allow to increase the effectiveness of defensive actions by an average of 6.9%.
