Abstract:
The Olympic debut of women's biathlon took place in 1992 in Albertville (France). Before that, the athletes had been playing World Championships awards since 1984, and since 1988 multi-stage World Cup competitions. Gradually, the popularity of women's biathlon grew, the number of awards being awarded at the Olympic Winter Games and the number of countries applying for these awards increased. Now biathlete competitions are not inferior to men's competitions in their unpredictability and dynamics. In Russia, over the past 12-15 years, biathlon TV broadcasts have occupied leading positions in the segment of sports programs in the winter competition seasons.
