Maintaining the mental health and well-being of students is an urgent task of the psychological service of the university. In a number of mental health disorders, depressive disorders of various origins represent the main problem. The purpose of the study is to assess the level of mental health and psychological well-being of students through monitoring, which allows timely identification of possible risks. Methodology and organization of the study. To solve these problems, a diagnostic cut was carried out using the SCL-90 test. The study involved 1363 students from various faculties of a humanitarian university, of which 1069 were girls, 294 were boys aged 17-24 years (median value - 19 years). Conclusions. The level of psychological well-being of the majority of the surveyed youth can, in general, be characterized as corresponding to the normative indicators. The states of psychological distress range from states of mild anxiety about various situational life problems to states requiring medical assistance. Social status can serve as both a deterrent (as in the case of having a family) and a risk factor (as in the case of chronic diseases, etc.) in the formation of depressive tendencies.
