Studies show that the level of physical fitness of first-year students is steadily declining. This happens for various reasons, the main of which is the employment of graduates preparing to pass the exam. To solve this problem, many particular methodological approaches are proposed, but they do not solve the problem on a general scale. This study was conducted on the basis of all universities in Kemerovo, the data obtained confirm the general trend and require urgent measures to increase the level of physical fitness, for example, endurance. This requires the interest of all participants in the pedagogical process or the order of the administration, it is necessary to develop a citywide program, as in Novokuznetsk, but this program is not a solution to all problems, because. a fairly large number of those who entered the first course are not residents of Kemerovo, but come from other cities and regions. It is necessary to look for other approaches, one of which may be the sportization of physical education
