INFLUENCE OF INTERLIMB FUNCTIONAL ASYMMETRY OF LEG MUSCLES ON THE MOTOR PERFORMANCE OF CYCLIC AND ACYCLIC LOCOMOTIONS IN HIGHLY QUALIFIED BIATHLONISTS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Introduction. Recently, as a way to increase the effectiveness of sports training, including biathletes, they call taking into account their interlimb functional (strength) asymmetries, but today the question of their influence on the motor performance of multi-joint unilateral cyclic and bilateral acyclic movements remains practically unexplored, which determined the direction of the present study. The purpose of the study - assessment of the influence of interlimb functional asymmetry of the muscles of the flexors and extensors of the knee joint on the motor performance of multi-joint unilateral cyclic and bilateral acyclic movements in high-class biathletes. Methodology and organization of the study. The study, which was conducted in the period from 2016 to 2022, involved highly qualified biathletes, members of the Russian national team (men, n=36 people, aged 25±3.7 years, who ranked from 1 to 16 in the final rating of the Russian Biathlon Union). The power abilities of the muscles of the flexors and extensors of the knee joint of the right and left limbs were assessed by isokinetic dynamometry using the Biodex System 4 Pro robotic complex. To assess the effect of interlimb functional asymmetry of the lower extremities on the motor performance of movements in high-class biathletes, the method of control tests was used. The results of the study. At the level of isolated muscles (only flexors or extensors), functional asymmetry is observed in all studied parameters in the extensors of the knee joint and similarly in the flexors, with the exception of the «peak torque» indicator. At the level of functional asymmetry between the flexor and extensor muscles of the knee joint, statistically significant differences were found only in terms of «peak torque» and «angle of reaching peak torque». Conclusions. The results of the study indicate the absence of significant relationships between the functional interlimb asymmetry of the flexors and extensors of the knee joint, manifested in a single-joint unilateral movement, and peak power, average speed and strength, manifested in a multi-joint bilateral acyclic movement, as well as with the economy and efficiency of unilateral cyclic movements in biathletes high class
