Seven Summer Paralympic Games were held between 1960 and 1984. During this time, the competition has evolved from a relatively modest event, in which 209 athletes took part in 8 sports at 1960 into one of the largest international sport event, at which 2105 athletes took part in 18 sports at 1984. Ludwig Guttman-the founder of Paralympic movement couldn't take part in the organization of 1984 Paralympic Games, which left a serious negative imprint on the content of the program so in order to preserve the superiority of the USA in the unofficial team competition, the number of athletics and swimming disciplines was more than doubled up to 449 and 345 disciplines, respectively. After the first Paralympic Games, where only athletes with spinal cord injuries participated, and before the 1984 Games, the Paralympic family included athletes with visual impairment, as well as athletes with cerebral palsy, amputations and other locomotor disorders. During this time period, 8 first sports that which were included in the program of the first Paralympic games: athletics throwing, swimming, basketball, pool (snooker), archery, fencing, table tennis, darts were added by weightlifting, lawn bowls, shooting, goalball, standing volleyball, sitting volleyball, wrestling, 7x7 soccer, boccia, powerlifting, cycling, equestrian sports. The 1984 Summer Paralympics were the last which not be held at the same sports venues as the Olympic Games of the same year. It should be noted that these Games became the key point and subsequently there was a shift in emphasis from recreation and rehabilitation to the predominance of the sports component
