Introduction. The requirement of gymnastic terminology "accuracy" implies uniformity of terms given in textbooks on gymnastics of various years of publication. The purpose of the study is to clarify the terminological designation of the positions: "Sed" and "Sitting back". Methodology and organization of the study analysis of textbooks and textbooks on gymnastics with further generalization of the data obtained. The results of the study and their discussion. The analysis of textbooks and textbooks on gymnastics revealed discrepancies in the terminological designation "Sed". Here, in our opinion, there is insufficient accuracy of the term, because in this position, various variants of hand positions are possible. In our opinion, the terminological designation "Emphasis sitting behind" violates the requirements for gymnastic terminology: accessibility and accuracy. Conclusions. If there are no discrepancies in the textbooks on gymnastics terminological designation of the position in question involved, the term "Sed" would be sufficient, and "emphasis from behind" would be meant as a frequently accepted starting position. In the current situation of terminological discrepancies, we propose to designate this provision terminologically "Sed with an emphasis on the back."
