Introduction. At the present stage of scientific development, medicine has reached the highest level, allowing doctors to successfully cope with serious diseases and prolong the life of patients until old age. Nevertheless, it is always better to prevent the disease than to treat it, and for medical workers the problem ofpreserving their own health is very acute. Knowing perfectly well the causes ofthe development of certain diseases, doctors themselves very often neglect their prevention and are extremely careless about preserving and maintaining their health. The purpose of the study. The aim of the study is to identify psychological predictors of the formation of adaptive and non-adaptive types of attitude to health among resident doctors. The methodology and organization of the study. The study sample was represented by 162 residents of the first and second years of study ofthe Samara State Medical University of Therapeutic and Surgical Specialties (135 women and 27 men). Research methods: Methodology of diagnostics of attitudes towards health (author's), Questionnaire «Healthy lifestyle profile», Questionnaire «Attitude to health». School of Health Behavior Inventory,Integrative anxiety test, Methodology of self-attitude research, Mini-SMIL questionnaire. Research results and discussion. Results: 1) impulsivity, rigidity, hypochondriacity and pessimism negatively affect the attitude to health in all its components, and optimism positively; 2) the absence of internal conflict and feelings of guilt contribute to the formation of adaptive types of attitude to health, while the lack of internal honesty is combined with non-adaptive types of attitude to health. Conclusion. Based on the results of the study, a program has been developed for the formation of adaptive types of attitudes to health, recommended for work with students of medical universities and colleges
