To substantiate and specify the factors affecting the health of students, a survey was conducted. The survey was conducted among 1 st and 2nd year students (n= 100). Research methods were used: survey (questionnaire); pedagogical observation and statistical processing of the obtained results. The discipline "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" plays an important role in strengthening the immune system, preventing a healthy lifestyle and social activity of students. Currently, there is a problem of missing classes in the discipline "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports." Thus, according to the study, it was found that not all students have the habit of observing the rules of optimal nutrition, respectively, the basis for the formation and maintenance of health. Based on the results of the survey analysis, we consider it necessary to introduce preventive work for students on the principles of rational nutrition, food culture and a healthy lifestyle
