Introduction. The categorical system of physical culture has not yet received its complete scientific justification, which implies the need to study it. The purpose of the study was to reveal the categorical system of physical culture as a model that allows us to consider its essential characteristics. The following research methods were used: analysis of special literature, methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison and abstraction. The results of the study. The categorical system of physical culture is theoretically substantiated, including the concepts of horizontal ("physical education", "sport", "physical recreation", "motor rehabilitation") and vertical ("physical capabilities", "physical perfection", etc.) sections. The definition of the concept of "physical culture" is given, based on the proposed categorical system. In conclusion, the practical significance of the proposed categorical system of physical culture for improving the effectiveness of the educational process in the conditions of special physical education is noted
