Today, WHO experts consider overweight and obesity as one of the most common chronic diseases, reaching the level of a global non-infectious epidemic. The article evaluates the effectiveness of a correctional methodology for water aerobics aimed at increasing the level of physical development of overweight children of primary school age. The study materials indicate that systematic water aerobics classes led to weight loss in children. Accordingly, there was a significant improvement in body mass index and indicators of physical and functional development. The positive dynamics of the research results that we have established is an objective basis for targeted pedagogical influences in health-improving training in fitness centers
