Introduction. Currently, there are no normatively substantiated requirements for assessing the level of physical fitness of students in pre-university educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the regions of the Far North and the Arctic under the section “Athletics”. Purpose of the study. Assess the influence of climatic living conditions on the level of physical and functional fitness of Suvorov students. Methodology and organization of the study. Research methods: theoretical analysis, pedagogical testing, research of physical development and functional state, mathematical and statistical analysis, generalization and synthesis. 52 11th grade students of the Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School and 53 11th grade students of the branch of the Nakhimov Naval School in Murmansk participated in the ascertaining experiment. Research results and discussion. Most of the studied indicators of physical development, physical and functional readiness of 11th grade students of the branch of the Nakhimov Naval School in Murmansk have significant differences (p<0.05) compared with the results demonstrated by Suvorov students of the Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School, who lived in conditions temperate climate. Long-term living in Arctic conditions shifts the vegetative balance towards the predominance of parasympathetic influences and ensures satisfactory adaptation, which affects the values of corrections to the results when assessing the level of physical fitness of Suvorov students in the “Athletics” section. The correction to the results of 11th grade students at the branch of the Nakhimov Naval School in Murmansk when performing the control exercise “Running 1 km” is -63 seconds, and the standard “Running 3 km” is -29 seconds. Conclusions. Further research is needed to substantiate amendments to the results of the control exercises “Running 1 km” and “Running 3 km” by Suvorov students living in the Far North and the Arctic
