The article presents the results of the authors' research to identify the factors determining the need for the use of simulators in the process of training professional hockey players. These factors include: achieving realistic simulation of game actions during simulator training; full implementation of the principle of individualization of the training process during the simulator training of professional hockey players; tracking progress and analyzing the growth indicators of sports skills among professional hockey players; the possibility of using simulators as an additional means of improving the effectiveness of traditional training on ice. Significant factors are also: high efficiency of transferring skills acquired during simulator training to real game situations; guaranteed transfer of skills acquired on the simulator in the scenario of a real game of professional hockey players
