Power sports unite several separate sports (powerlifting, kettlebell lifting, weightlifting, etc.) which differ in content, regulatory requirements, training process, etc. In recent years, interest in power sports is increasing, they are becoming more popular, which is mainly due to their availability for people of different ages, its high efficiency of application in different spheres of activity. As this popularity increases, scientific interest on the part of leading specialists is also growing. It is connected with the specifics of the training process, means of influence on various aspects of athlete's training, peculiarities of his personality and competitive activity. Of great interest is the mental state of athletes in various conditions of activity, in particular in competitions. The success of performance, efficiency, and thus self-realization of athletes depends on the psychoemotional attitude of the athlete. In this regard, the process of managing the state of athletes in the conditions of competition is of great importance, determines the relevance of the present study, the purpose of which is to develop a model for managing the psychoemotional state of athletes of power sports in the conditions of competition. The present article presents the results of the application of categorical methods for the formation of a model for managing the psychoemotional state of power sports athletes. It is established that the choice of psychological techniques determines the attitude to sports result, they are the transforming environment. To improve the performance of the athlete it is necessary to have an indirect, rather than direct impact on it, through related elements. To manage the psychoemotional state of athletes it is necessary to use the "+-" and "-+" modes of the life cycle of compensatory homeostat, as they are more sustainable
