Abstract:
The attitude of adolescents to reading is part of the reading culture and largely determines not only their academic performance, but also affects their overall socio-cultural development, universal competencies. Leisure reading reflects the importance of reading as a whole in the system of value orientations of the individual and shows how much a person is aimed at cognition. There is a strong opinion that the attitude to reading among modern teenagers is deteriorating, although there is an opposite point of view. The article presents the results of a comparison of data from empirical studies of2007, 2015 and 2023 aimed at identifying changes in adolescents' attitudes to reading related to the place of reading in the leisure structure, the volume of reading and its «digitalization», which is of practical interest in the study and support of reading
