The article gives a general description of shooting sports and discusses the prospects of using one of its types, bullet shooting from pneumatic guns, in elective physical training classes for students. We raise the question of the importance of students' interest in the subject for the effectiveness of classes. An assumption about the expediency of testing the applied game “Intellectual biathlon” in bullet shooting classes with students is made. In order to substantiate the experimental methodology, the analysis of the results of pedagogical observations conducted in bullet shooting sections operating on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is carried out. The purpose of the study is identification of well-established approaches to the construction of training sessions on bullet shooting from pneumatic weapons and their possible options. Organization and methods of research: The study was carried out from February to May 2022 in bullet shooting sections located in different regions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). A total of 13 pedagogical observations were conducted, during which author's protocols containing a list of recorded indicators were used. The research uses methods of pedagogical observation, mathematical and statistical data processing, and general logical methods of theoretical research: analysis, generalization and systematization. The results of the study and their discussion. The study showed that a standard lesson in the bullet shooting section lasts 1.5-2 hours, consists of preparatory, main, and final parts, and has a high overall and motor density. The content of classes usually includes exercises for general development, training in holding weapons, idle work on elements of shooting techniques and shooting using bullets. Additionally, the exercises “Kuropatka-VPp”, rifle biathlon, “Duelka”, relay race, work on the SCATT simulator, exercises for the development of strength, coordination, endurance, games of darts, tennis, checkers, volleyball, and football can be used. Conclusion: Bullet shooting from pneumatic weapons is an attractive sport for young people, the implementation of which into the framework of elective physical education classes seems appropriate and has an applied orientation. Methodically, the use of additional tools that contribute to the formation of shooting skills and increase of interest in classes should be carried out in the main part of the lesson, presumably in alternation with standard training tools
