The 2014 Olympic legacy includes not only sports facilities and infrastructural reconstruction of the city, but also those positive changes in the lives of residents after the Olympics, the introduction (primarily schoolchildren) to physical education and sports. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of physical fitness of 12-13 year old students at school No. 100 in Sochi (located near the Olympic Park and Sirius), demonstrated when passing the GTO standards in the summer of 2023. The study showed that the «weak link» in the physical fitness of schoolchildren aged 12-13 years is the 1.5 kilometer running standard (99.5% of boys and 98.8% of girls were unable to meet the standards for the bronze badge. Availability of sports facilities in the city world class and ample opportunities for sports, do not yet ensure the involvement of large masses of schoolchildren in regular physical education classes and their fulfillment of state requirements for minimum physical fitness
