He relevance of the study is determined by the need to identify in the competitive activity of qualified athletes specializing in the discipline of kata kyokushin, biomechanical features of kata performance. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of high-speed biomechanical characteristics of athletes specializing in kata kyokushin, leaders and winners of high-level competitions. Research objectives: to designate the phases of the motor action when performing the Gekisai Se kata; determine the execution time of individual phases and the total combination time in kata Gekisai S; determine the maximum values of the speeds of various joints of the athletes' body. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature sources; dynamometry; optical methods of three-dimensional registration of movements; methods of mathematical statistics. Organization of research. The study was conducted on the basis of the biomechanics laboratory of the Research Institute of Sports of Russian Sport University. To study the kata technique in a laboratory experiment, a fragment of the Gekisai Sho kata was selected, which included the following technical actions (zenkutsu dachi, gyaku zuki, mae gary, hikite and hikiasi, tobi, kakeasi dachi with morote zuki). To study the kinematic structure of technical actions, the Qualisys hardware and software complex (APC) with the Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) software was used. The results of the study. In the course of the study, it was found that with almost the same kata execution time, the leaders by 21.7% (p<0.05) significantly more time is devoted to performing the 3 phase of the final acceleration, which in turn has a favorable effect on the technique. The maximum speed of the wrist, ankle joints, as well as the total center of mass of the leaders' body is much higher than that of the prizewinners, while the maximum value of the horizontal reaction force of the support of the leaders is less than that of the prize-winners. Conclusions. The reference indicators will allow making adjustments to the training process of athletes at the stage of improving sports skills
