The article considers the issue of preparation of students to pass the standards on tourist training, which are part of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex «Ready to work and defense» (GTO). When passing standards on various signs of the GTO, special technical complexity arises only on the tests of a tourist trip with the test of tourist skills. Preparation for the tests on tourist training, as well as the verification process itself requires a lot of material, financial costs and last a very long time under the guidance of experienced mentors and teachers. It is impossible or very difficult to prepare yourself for these tests. Despite such difficulties, there are regions of the Russian Federation and universities, which pay great attention to tourism training and students with a great desire to prepare and successfully pass tests on them
