One of the most pressing problems of modern education is to improve its quality. There are several ways to do this, including improving the education of teachers. One of the ways to improve education is self-education, this is something that can significantly increase not only knowledge, but also one's own pedagogical skills. The article considers a program for self-education in the field of physical culture and sports. The program has a pronounced practice-oriented orientation, which contributes to the formation of theoretical knowledge that can be successfully applied in practice. This program was tested during teaching practice and proved to be effective. Based on the results, conclusions are drawn that reflect the requirements for self-education programs
