TECHNOLOGY OF USING ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TOOLS FOR THE PREVENTION OF DECLINE IN THE PSYCHOPHYSICAL STATE OF ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL DISORDERS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The study was conducted within the framework of a state assignment for the development of scientifically based proposals for the formation of motivation for active longevity among elderly citizens with sensory, motor, and mental disorders through adaptive physical activity for the period 2024–2026. The purpose of the study is to develop a technology for using adaptive physical activity tools aimed at preventing the decline in the psychophysical state of elderly individuals with mental disorders. Research methods and organization. The pedagogical experiment was conducted on the basis of the Koltushi Center for Social and Diaconal Services for the Elderly with Mental Disorders. The following methods were used during the study: 1) analysis of literary and information sources; 2) analysis of extracts from medical records; 3) interviews with center staff (in the form of conversations); 4) pedagogical observations; 5) pedagogical experiment; 6) testing; 7) mathematical and statistical methods. Research results and conclusions. A technology for using adaptive physical activity tools to prevent the decline in the psychophysical state of elderly individuals with mental disorders (dementia), taking into account their mobility, was developed. Two modules were created: for mobile participants (8 blocks of physical exercises, 4 blocks of artistic practices, 4 levels of difficulty) and for low‑mobility participants (6 blocks of physical exercises, 3 blocks of artistic practices, 3 levels of difficulty). Criteria for transition between levels of mastering the content of classes – from basic to advanced – were developed. The criteria for moving from one level to another are based on stability of exercise performance and creative tasks, independence, absence of discomfort, and positive dynamics. The developed technology for using adaptive physical activity tools for the prevention of decline in the psychophysical state of elderly individuals with mental disorders, differentiated by degree of mobility of the contingent and levels of difficulty, makes it possible to effectively maintain the psychophysical state of elderly individuals with dementia in inpatient settings.
