The purpose of the study is to analyze the tests of the updated complex of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex for levels VII and VIII among students in their first to third years based on monitoring physical fitness. Research methods and organization. The study was conducted at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year at the National Research University "MEI" with the participation of students who had medical clearance to perform the standards of the Ready for Labor and Defense complex. Monitoring of students' physical fitness was carried out at the end of the academic year within the framework of the GTO standards for levels VII and VIII. The results of the monitoring were compared to the achievement of GTO tests at the appropriate levels (gold, silver, and bronze distinctions). Research results. Among the mandatory tests of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex, the young men showed greater success in tests related to speed, strength abilities, and flexibility, while the young women demonstrated the best results in the flexibility test. Endurance running posed challenges for both gender groups. Among the optional tests of the GTO, the highest number of young men who received a badge was recorded in the "standing long jump" test, while young women achieved the best results in the "sit-up from a lying position" test. The percentage of students who received a GTO badge of distinction was 40.4% for level VII and 33.6% for level VIII.
