The purpose of the study is to study the dynamics of the functional state of cadets of the Far Eastern Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia named after I.F. Shilov during the course of their studies. Research methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature and regulatory legal documents, pedagogical experiment and testing, expert evaluation method, mathematical statistics methods. Research results and conclusions. It has been revealed that the functional state of the cadets in both the experimental and control groups showed no significant differences at either the beginning or the end of the experiment. This leads to the conclusion that, under the conditions of limited time allocated for physical training in educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the primary goal of physical training should be to develop service-related skills and competencies, while monitoring the level of physical quality development during independent training hours and utilizing various pedagogical methods. The indicators identified during the study regarding the mastery of combat techniques allow us to conclude the effectiveness of the methodology developed by the authors for forming service-related skills.
