Organization and content of a multidisciplinary methodology for the habilitation of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder in an aquatic environment

Abstract (English):
The purpose of the study is the development, implementation, and scientific justification of an experimental methodology for habilitation using adaptive swimming for the comprehensive development of children with ASD. Research methods and organization. Theoretical analysis of literature, summarization of the experiences of practicing educators, long-term observations, and surveys were employed. The experiment was conducted at the base of physical culture and health organizations in Moscow. Research results and conclusions. The personalized and incremental methodology contributed to the development of motor and sensorimotor skills, cognitive and communicative functions, the formation of life skills, and the improvement of psycho-emotional state. Significant improvements in development have been recorded in the majority of participants. It has been proven that adaptive swimming methods promote the comprehensive development of children with ASD, positively affecting motor skills, communication, socialization, and health, and can be recommended for widespread adoption in habilitation programs.
