In this article the authors consider the growth rate of the dynamics of the number of people regularly engaged in physical culture and sports for the last 12 years. The authors of the article analyzing the contingent of people regularly engaged in physical culture and sports in fitness clubs and sports complexes of the Samara region studied the motivational sphere of a large number of people of different social and professional groups. In order to study the indicator of annual increase in the number of the population seeking to lead a healthy lifestyle, we analyzed the growth of sports infrastructure. We made conclusions that there is a direct connection with the developing sports infrastructure and the sphere of physical culture and sports services by location near densely populated residential areas of cities and rural settlements. Thus, continuing the development of infrastructure in the field of sports, providing the population with everything necessary for physical culture, scaling the major sporting events, the number of citizens involved in physical culture and sports in Russia will grow annually.
