State policy in the field of physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation sets high goals for the comprehensive development of the industry and the achievement of strategic targets. One of the most important tools contributing to the successful implementation of regional state policy is the staffing of the physical culture and sports industry. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of staffing in the field of physical culture and sports in the Sverdlovsk region for the period from 2010 to 2022 to identify prospects for the development of this area within the framework of the implementation of regional state policy. Based on the analysis of the industry’s staffing in the field of physical culture and sports in the Sverdlovsk region for the period from 2020 to 2022, it is necessary to note the trend of an increase in the total number of employed workers, as well as an increase in their professional skills, which directly associated with obtaining higher professional education. It seems effective to set minimum requirements for candidates for the position of head coach of a regional team in sports, regarding the required presence of a specialized higher education. For further development of staffing at the regional level, it is necessary to expand the practice and improve the mechanism for concluding agreements on targeted training between educational organizations and regional or municipal authorities.
