Currently, among students of higher educational institutions, the issue of organizing and conducting independent physical education and sports is being updated. This need is caused by the fact that the number of hours of practical training in the discipline "Physical Culture and Sport" has been reduced with the maintenance of the new generation federal state standard (FGOS 3++). Undoubtedly, all this is a prerequisite that students should independently organize their physical culture and sports activities in order to eliminate gaps in the development of the discipline and successfully fulfill the control standards according to the curriculum. The article presents a study on the development of individual plans for independent physical culture and sports activities of students of higher educational institutions. The data obtained will allow university teachers to modify the educational process taking into account the lagging physical qualities identified in the learning process and the implementation of control standards.
